'Sound Of Freedom' Is An Incredible Film

'Sound Of Freedom' is a heart-breaking film that leaves you with a strong sense of hope.

Sound Of Freedom arrived in theaters today, Independence Day. This article comes before any box office data on it has been released.

This movie is eye-opening, heart-breaking, and hope-bringing. Based on a true story, it revolves around Dept. of Homeland Security agent Tim Ballard, who goes deep undercover in the Colombian underworld to save a young Honduran girl from sex slavery. Along his journey, he forms an alliance with former Colombian cartel boss, known as "Vampiro," who eventually reveals to Ballard that he joined the fight against sex slavery because he had once, after being released from a long stint in prison, unknowingly had sex with a 14-year-old sex slave, believing her to be an adult. After orchestrating a plan to bust several pedophiles at one time and save more than fifty children on a deserted Colombian island (and hopeful that in those 50, they'd find the missing Honduran girl, but without avail), they then venture deep into dangerous Colombian separatist territory posing as U.N. doctors, after interrogating one of the captured pedophiles who gives them information on the girl's most probable whereabouts.

As I sat in my front row seat in a packed theater, I could faintly hear the sounds of subtle crying all around me from my fellow audience members. Despite my empty heart of black, I too had a difficult time keeping my composure during the film. The acting in this movie is fantastic, and is instrumental in immersing you in the story, and almost seems horrifically real while watching it. Jim Caviezel stars in the film as Tim Ballard, and is co-starred by Bill Camp, who gives the other memorable stand-out performance. His monologue aforementioned in the previous paragraph in the middle of the film is probably the single most-memorable scene in the film, and is emotionally fraught.

The film's original soundtrack, composed by veteran film score composer Javier Navarrete, is incredible, and just seconds into the film, immediately instills a sense of fear, darkness and innocence-lost into the audience.

This movie carries some pretty heavy themes, the most interesting of which happens to be faith and religion. The different characters' belief in God is referenced noticeably often throughout the film, in a particularly thought-provoking fashion. One of the most memorable lines in the film is in the first act when Tim Ballard first meets Vampiro, and Vampiro asks him why he's risking his life venturing into the Colombian underworld to set these children free. Ballard responds soberingly, "because God's children are not for sale."

Emotional, intense, and thrilling, Sound Of Freedom may very well be the best film of 2023. It also may be the most important, because of its themes of child abuse in the criminal underworld, and it a must-see for any parent, person-of-faith, and movie buff. There is a unique video message during the credits from Tim Caviezel himself, in which he recognizes that the film probably emotionalized a good portion of the audience. He mentions during his brief video message that this was an independent film, and that there was not a large budget to market the film the way Hollywood films are typically marketed. He kindly asks the audience to help him spread the message for the film through word-of-mouth, and even offers a way via an onscreen QR code to "pay it forward," by purchasing a ticket for other people who may be strapped-for-cash and cannot afford to see it right now. Writing this article is our way of paying it forward, and marketing through word-of-mouth. Go see this film, and bring your tissue box.

On a brief side note, we're pretty shocked by some of our colleagues in the bloggersphere, who have some pretty absurd complaints about this movie. Over on the far-left leaning editorial website "Jezebel," whiny child Rich Juzwiak complains about this movie becoming a film for Q-Anon followers to get their right-wing heebie-jeebies from. Absolutely ridiculous, Rich! What a whiny little prick, you are!!!
