Trump Shocks Kaitlan Collins With Sensible Stance On Ukraine War

Whatever you think of Donald Trump's bombastic performance on CNN, he made at least one very good point about the war in Ukraine.

Trump's performance on CNN Wednesday night was over-the-top and inflated, but regardless of what you think about the man, he made one very solid argument regarding the war in Ukraine.

Based on Trump's answer to Collins' question during the town hall, it's quite clear that The Donald wants this war to end ASAP.

Kaitlan Collins, whom I actually like, tried her hardest to make Trump look bad in this moment, but despite her best efforts, Collins gave Trump a grand opportunity to rail against the military industrial complex, and he was happy to oblige, and it ended up being the single-most memorable moment of the evening.

The moment began when a young woman in the audience asked him if we should continue to provide military equipment to Ukraine, and asked him how he would deal with the "increasing threat, Vladimir Putin."

Trump made it pretty clear in the first sentence that he wouldn't be giving Ukraine any more equipment, because we currently don't have any ammunition for our own military.

Trump then claimed that Putin would have never invaded Ukraine if he was the current President. Even though there's not much (or any) evidence to prove such a claim, it doesn't actually seem entirely farfetched either, as Putin had four years to invade Ukraine while Trump was in office, and didn't... but did when Joe Biden was the President. Trump even made the claim that "even the Democrats admit [that Putin wouldn't have invaded Ukraine if Trump was POTUS]," to which he received some backlash for from CNN host Kaitlan Collins. "Which Democrats say that, Mr. President?" asked Collins while Trump was addressing the young woman who asked him the initial question. Trump ignored Collins and continued. "You don't have to know too much about history to realize... or geography to realize that... they're a little bit more affected than we are," continued Trump, speaking about Europe's failure to rise up to the challenge to defend Ukraine, which has only given the country about 55 billion Euros to fight Russia, whereas the American people have given Ukraine over $170 billion. "They've got to put up a lot more money, because they're taking advantage of us like every other country did," claimed Trump. I have a hard time disagreeing with him here. According to the GDP per capita, America is far from the world's richest country, and yet for some reason the American people are expected to foot the bill for other country's wars.

"But the question here is would you give Ukraine weapons and funding if you were elected?" asks Collins, as if Trump hadn't made it pretty clear at this point that he wouldn't (and shouldn't in my opinion).

"Let me just put it a nicer way," responds Trump, "if I'm president, I would have that war settled in one day - in 24 hours."

And then came the truly entertaining part. "Do you want Ukraine to win this war?" asks Collins.

"I don't think in terms of winning or losing [...] I want everybody to stop dying. They're dying. Russians and Ukrainians," responds Trump. I agree with this statement. Personally, I don't care who wins this war that's going on a half a world away from us. Who "wins" the war doesn't matter to most Americans - and it shouldn't - because it doesn't affect our lives either way. I want peace in Eastern Europe. I, like the former President, want to put an end to the killing. That's all I care about. And that's all any American should care about. And it's too bad we have so many mainstream media outlets that seem enjoy doing the bidding of the military industrial complex, and manufacture consent (as Noam Chomsky would put it) for Americans to fund murdering people overseas. Kaitlan Collins sadly seemed so disgusted that Donald Trump might actually just want to end a bloody war, instead of endlessly funding the military industrial complex's country-of-choice defenses and offenses, until the day Ukraine actually does in fact lose the war (which most foreign policy experts who've weighed in on the matter say is practically inevitable).

Regardless of what you may think about Donald Trump (and trust us, we're no fanboys of The Donald over here at EndingPolitics.com), he's objectively been the least bad president when it comes to foreign policy in generations (certainly in my lifetime). And his stance on Ukraine - putting an end to the killing instead of worrying about who wins - is the correct position to take. We should care not about which country half a world away wins this war. Instead, we should care about stopping the violence and ending the killing. Human lives are far more important that putting medals on the jackets of generals (who usually don't actually earn them anyway, as the popular meme goes).

Peace, my brethren.
